My Facebook status last night after the Patriots went up 21-0 on the Houston Texans read as such, " I'm staying up for this crap?" I had a few likes and one comment by a gentlemen named Mike and he stated "You know it's going to get close, only the second quarter." Oh really Mike from Facebook because I trusted your word and you lied!
I'm not to sure where all the hype came coming into this game because two clear scenarios were going to be played out in my opinion A) the Houston Texans were as good as there record showed or B) it wasn't as A pertains to. I'm not like the 85% of New England Patriot fans, band wagon fans as they say. I'm a fan of football I'd say only about 15% of Patriot fans are true through and through fans, not fact opinion. Also random.
A lot of people coming into this game saw this as a real test for the Patriots, I disagree the Patriots are legit people need not to worry about how well they will fair against these so called high octane teams. Wake up you actually have a functioning more than decent defense the key ingredient you have been missing. Not only was the acquisition of Aqib Talib another genius move by Bill Belichick but moving Devin McCourty back to safety has released him of the pressure he clearly could not handle case in point, endzone interception in last nights game. With Steve Gregory back along side McCourty you can clearly see how much of a factor it was with Gregory missing. Do I honestly need to even write about how incredible Vince Wilfork has been for this team this entire year?
When the Houston Texans rushed five last night Tom Brady had an astounding 98.3 QBR, when your quarter back is almost begging for you to blitz every team in the National Football League is in trouble. This game was no where near a test for the Patriots as it was for the Texans who had a fluke win over the Lions and needed overtime to defeats the absolutely horrible Jacksonville Jaguars. Yes you band wagon fans I know the Patriots lost to the Cardinals in week two but the situation was entirely different, the defense was not what it was now and the Cardinals were actually a decent team, not sure what has happened since but week two they had something going.
When you can score a touchdown on your first three drives of the game than it's pretty easy to say your day is going to be smooth, this game was never a game of who was better in my opinion it was more of are the Texans legit. Last nights game answered that question for me. Stay tuned for what my next Facebook status will be this Sunday night at 8:20 when the 49ers attempt to do disassemble (Short Circuit reference YES) the Patriots, this is more of the type of test I think everyone should be paying attention to because the Niners defense is ACTUALLY legit. 1st, 3rd and 3rd are there rankings defensively.
Sunday night games are no fun with work in the A.M. but I'd say theirs a good chance I stay up for this one.
